Change & Suppression Guidance Workshop - VIC

Change & Suppression Guidance Workshop - VIC

One of the recommendations for schools from Mark Sneddon (Director, Sneddon Legal) at our recent Webinar Responding to Victoria’s Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act was that schools:

• Provide training and compliance guidance to staff including volunteers on what they can and can’t do under the Act
• Ensure that appropriate record-keeping processes are in place

Both of these measures will be important for showing a school has taken reasonable precautions to prevent a staff member engaging in a CSP and, in the event that a staff member did engage in a CSP, to avoid vicarious liability.

Both of these measures will be important for showing that a school has taken reasonable precautions to prevent a staff member engaging in a CSP and, in the event that a staff member did engage in a CSP, to avoid vicarious liability.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will engage with and understand the legislation and then work collaboratively to draft a training and compliance guide which can be used and adapted by schools. There will be space for 30 participants.
